Privacy Policy
Last updated 2 September 2026
Thomas Buses Inc ("Thomas Buses", "we", "us") operates school bus transportation for special-education routes in New York City. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do and do not do with it.
Information we collect
- Job applicants: name, mobile telephone number, email address, home borough or city, work history, and the credentials required for the role you applied to, such as CDL class, endorsements and certification status.
- Enquiries and quote requests: name, telephone number, email address, and whatever you choose to include in your message.
- Website use: standard server logs, including IP address, browser type and pages requested.
How we use it
- To contact you about a job you applied for, including scheduling and confirming interviews.
- To assess your eligibility for a role and to carry out the screening, licensing and clearance required by the New York State DMV, the New York State Education Department and the New York City Department of Education Office of Pupil Transportation.
- To respond to enquiries about our transportation services.
- To meet our legal, safety and record-keeping obligations as a school bus operator.
Mobile telephone numbers and SMS
No mobile information will be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All of the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
If you give us your mobile number on a job application, you are consenting to be contacted at that number about your application, including by SMS text message and by telephone. We use your number for that purpose only.
You can withdraw consent for text messages at any time by replying STOP to any message we send. See our Terms of Service for the full messaging terms.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. We disclose information only in these circumstances:
- Government agencies, where the law requires it for driver and attendant certification — the NYS DMV, the NYS Education Department and the NYC DOE Office of Pupil Transportation.
- Screening providers we engage to carry out background checks, fingerprinting, drug and alcohol testing and medical examinations, and only to the extent needed to perform that check.
- Service providers that operate our email, telephony and recruiting systems on our behalf, under contracts that restrict them to processing the data for us.
- Where the law compels us, such as a subpoena, court order or regulatory demand.
How long we keep it
Applications are kept for as long as needed to evaluate you for current and future openings, and for as long as employment and transportation-safety record-keeping rules require. You may ask us to delete your application at any time.
Security
We restrict access to applicant information to the people who need it for hiring and compliance, and we require our service providers to protect it. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
- Reply STOP to any text message to stop text messages.
- Use the unsubscribe link in any email, or reply asking us to stop.
- Write to us to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted.
Children
Our website and our hiring process are directed to adults. Applicants must be at least 21 years old. We do not knowingly collect information from children through this website. Information about the students we transport is handled under our agreements with the New York City Department of Education, not through this site.
Changes
If we change this policy we will post the revised version here and update the date at the top of the page.
